Chainlink is at the centre of an evolution that’s changing how we do business. A new breed of developer has invented ways for contracts to be executed based on mathematical certainty, and their system relies heavily upon oracles – trusted entities who provide high-quality data from APIs & other sources along with powerful off-chain computing resources like GPUs (graphics processing units) in order make these calculations possible without requiring any user intervention!
What is Chainlink?
Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that provides reliable, tamper-proof inputs and outputs for complex smart contracts on any blockchain. Managed by a global, decentralized community of hundreds of thousands of people, Chainlink is introducing a fairer model for contracts. Its network currently secures billions of dollars in value for smart contracts across the decentralized finance (DeFi), insurance, and gaming ecosystems, among others.
Chainlink Hackathon Requirments
In order to participate in the Chainlink Hackathon, you’ll need:
- A GitHub account
- A Twitter account
- A chainlink node (can be run locally or on a provider like AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
- Some experience with smart contracts (Solidity preferred)
- Some experience with Chainlink (helpful but not required)
If you don’t have a chainlink node, no problem! You can use the free chainlink testnet node provided by our friends at Infura.
The hackathon will run for two weeks. During that time, you’ll have the opportunity to work on any project you’d like related to Chainlink oracles, whether it’s building a new dApp or integrating Chainlink into an existing one. At the end of the hackathon, you’ll submit your project to our judges and the community will vote on their favourite projects. The top three projects will each receive a prize!
